Zoo Krefeld is a zoological garden in the city of Krefeld, Germany. Opened in 1938 primarily as a youth education center, the zoo has since grown considerably in size and stature and currently houses over 100 species of animals kept in its 40 enclosures.
The zoo specializes in management of primates, tropical birds and predators and other animals from the African Savanna. You can find the primates in the Gorilla Garden while the Birdhouse is full of chirping and singing birds and then there are the awe-inspiring African lions, jaguars and other fearsome predators in the African Savanna section. There is also a large penguin pool and a pelican pond is currently being built to provide a new home for the zoo's pelicans.
The Krefeld Zoo also organizes many interesting and interactive activities, a majority of them involving children, all year round. Visit the official website (available in German only) of the zoo to find all the current news and to know about their upcoming activities.
