Zaanse Schans is a windmill neighborhood in Zaandam, close to Zanndijk, Netherlands. It got its name due to its proximity to the Zaan River. It attracts over 1.6 million tourists annually, which makes it one of the Netherland’s most popular attractions.
The neighborhood is home to the following windmills: De Gekroonde Poelenburg, Het Jonge Schaap, De Zoeker, De Bonte Hen, De Huisman, De Kat, De Os and the Het Klaverblad. They function as mustard, saw, dye or oil mills.
