The Buddhist temple of Wat Phra Singh is in Chiang Mai, Thailand. It was built in 1935 and was identified as a royal temple, and categorized as first class. It is located in the old walled city. The actual name of the temple is Phra Put Tha Shi Hing. It is now popularly known by the abbreviated version of the name.
Legend has it that the statue of Buddha in the temple originally came from India. The 'wat' or temple is set in an acclaimed temple complex. The buildings here are built in the traditional Lanna style of architecture and are quite beautiful. The complex also has chedis, the quarters where the monks reside.
