Once owned by a prominent businessman, the Vizcaya Museum & Gardens covers 50 acres in Coconut Grove, Miami.
The extravagant house includes elements of Italian Renaissance, Baroque and Mediterranean Revival design and is today a museum, featuring ornately designed rooms and a collection of paintings, furniture and other artwork from the 15th to 19th centuries.
The gardens are equally as stunning and are some of the most elaborate in the United States.
Low hedges, ornamental fountains, various sculptures and vines abound in the formal gardens, which look more like Italy or France than Florida. Vizcaya station on the Miami Metrorail provides easy access to the museum.
