The Ubatuba Aquarium in Rua Guarani is a private enterprise that was founded in January 1996 by a group of oceanographers. The fundamental importance of oceans in the life of the planet motivated the establishment of the center. Its mission is the preservation of marine and coastal environments through education and applied research.
The aquarium offers the opportunity for visitors to gain more knowledge on the marine world. The facility has 12 saltwater pools with specimens of marine fauna. It also has one of the largest marine pools in Brazil with 80,000 liters. It hosts marine horses, brown eels, sand shark, batfish and other regional fish.
