Tsarskoye Selo: Catherine Palace is a massive palace built in remembrance of Catherine I, Peter the Great's wife. She ruled Russia for a couple of years after the death of her husband.
Originally built modestly, the current grandeur is courtesy Empress Elizabeth, the daughter of the legendary couple. The palace building has been reconstructed by multiple architects to make it look the way it does today. Located in St. Petersburg (Russia), the place is almost a kilometer in circumference and has blue-and-white elaborately decorated facades.
