Thiruparankundram Shrine is a magnificent rock-cut temple near Madurai, India.
It is situated atop a hillock and is dedicated to Lord Karthikeya or Murugan. The temple was built by the Pandya rulers in the 8th century A.D and presents a stunning sight. The temple has a huge 150 ft tall Rajgopuram in front of the temple. Both the exterior and interior of the complex are impressive with 48 decorated pillars, life-sized idols of various Hindu deities and ornate wall carvings.
