Ponderosa State Park

Nicole fish hatchery
If fishing is something that you have a lot of interest in, McCall Fish Hatchery is something to check out. It was built to rear Chinook salmon as they were seeing the population dwindle year after year after year.
There are tours available, but it is great to just walk around and see everything as well. Everyone who works there is very friendly and energetic about salmon fishing in particular.
McCall Winter Carnival
This is something that only takes place once a year, but it brings in a lot of people around the region. Thousands and thousands of people head to McCall in late January and early February to enjoy the winter season.
There are snow sculpture contests, fireworks, snow bike races, snowshoe golf and more. Anyone who feels like they can’t get enough winter in their life should check it out. Some people will come from all over the world to experience winter around this area. It is a family-friendly event, but there is also plenty of things to do for adult couples who are trying to have a good time. Just be prepared for inclement weather, because it usually snows at least once during the event.
Harshman Skate Park
The city of McCall is not necessarily known for skating, but it is home to the largest skate park in Idaho. Tony Hawk commemorated the park when it opened in 2006, and it has remained a very active location.
Thanks in large part to the skate park, skating has taken off in the area. Skaters commute from other local cities to enjoy the amazing setup. Even skaters from Boise will make the over two-hour road trip to bond with others passionate about the sport.
