The Washington Monument is located in the center of the National Mall in Washington, DC about midway between the Lincoln Memorial and the Capitol.
The 555 feet tall stone column was built to commemorate George Washington, and today is the second tallest structure in the District of Columbia. There are stairs and an elevator to a viewing platform at the top, from where you can enjoy great views of the Mall and the White House.
One of the best times to see it is at night, when it is floodlit, along with other monuments and statues in and around the mall.
