One of the world’s greatest museums, the Rijksmuseum is located in the heart of Amsterdam.
The present building was opened in 1855 and renovated in the early 21st century.
It’s home to a million works of art, although only around 8,000 are displayed at any time, including well known works by Vermeer, Frans Hals, and Jan Steen.
The most famous exhibit is Rembrandt’s greatest painting, the Night Watch, painted in 1642, and measuring an impressive 11 by 14 feet.
