Also called Gran Plaza, The Macroplaza is a sequence of interconnected squares surrounded by parks, fountains and trees.
Built during the 1980s, the town square is a commercial hub and the fourth biggest plaza of its type in the world. Despite being so expansive, it can be explored by foot. The place brings together lush gardens, smaller plazas, museums, iconic buildings, pedestrian zones and monuments. Walk the streets and you’ll come across performers, magicians, comedians, food carts, masseurs and street artisans.
At its southern end is the Faro del Comercio, a 70-meter tall modern lighthouse, soaring above the city, and its green lasers impaling the night sky.
