Opened in 2000, the Lowry art and entertainment centre has helped to revitalize the Salford Quays area of greater Manchester.
It's named for the painter Lowry, who captured the area's industrial landscapes, and is home to two theatres and an art gallery. The art gallery has 400 paintings and drawings by Lowry, representing different periods of his career.
Plays, musical performances and opera are all performed regularly at the facility's two theatres, one of which has the largest stage outside London. The Lowry also hosts the Week 53 arts festival twice every year.
