Once the Taitung Train Station, Taitung Railway Art Village is now a thriving cultural hub that serves as the perfect junction between the old and the new.
Situated just near the Elsite Taitung Story House and Tiehua Music Village, it features a range of local performances, temporary exhibits, and lively markets that offer an impressive mix of music, fashion, and art. There are five rustic warehouses that now function as a performance stage, art studio, and classroom. One of these warehouses is even home to the Hualien Railway Culture Museum.
For train lovers, countless features of the former train station have been carefully preserved, including an old train that's still parked on the tracks, dated air-raid shelters, railway signals, and passenger platforms.
Visiting cyclists are also welcome to tour the village via a well-maintained bike-trail. Just outside of the station hall are two massive art installations that make for excellent photo opportunities.
