The 18th century St George's Cathedral in Kiev, Ukraine is the third church on the same site since the Middle Ages.
It was designed to have Ukrainian influences as well as Western touches in its Baroque-Rococo design. The distinctive yellow exterior features a statue of St. George, as well as a carving of the then Pope over the front entrance. Inside, the church has a fine collection of Religious relics, including an icon of the Virgin Mary.
Several important figures in the country's Greek-Catholic church are buried in the tombs, and the church also has a historic belfry and peaceful gardens that are worth exploring.
