One of the most famous ships in British maritime history, the SS Great Britain broke records in transatlantic travel.
Once the longest passenger ship in the world, she is today a museum ship in Bristol's historic harbor. The ship looks as she did when launched in 1843, and visitors can explore the galley, ornate dining room and promenade deck, as well as a replica of the engine room.
The museum features many personal crew items, such as letters and photographs and hosts a regular program of lectures and other events. If you have a head for heights, you can even climb the 75 feet high rigging.
