Located in a suburb of Dusseldorf, the Schloss Benrath was constructed in the mid 18th century and was designed as a palace for a local ruler. Today it's home to two museums, one in each wing, the Museum of European Garden Art, and the Museum of Natural History.
The central part of the building can be seen on a guided tour. Just as impressive as the fine furnishings and exhibits inside, the exterior comprises 14 acres of landscaped gardens and walkways, as well as a lake and other water features.
The Baroque palace is located on the banks of the Rhine and often hosts concerts.
