One of the largest urban parks in Europe, San Giuliano Park covers 1,720 acres in Mestre, an industrial suburb of Venice. As well as its miles of walking and biking trails, it also offers great views of Venice and has become a favorite with locals and visitors.
It's named after St. Julian, a catholic saint known for his hospitality, and it's also considered to be one of Europe's most successful regeneration projects. There's a playground and café here, and dogs aren't forgotten, with dog drinking fountains.
Outdoor concerts and other events take place here; one of the most well known was the Pope's visit in 2011.
