One of the most notorious times in American history was the Salem witch trials of the late 17th century, in which over 200 people were accused of witchcraft.
The Salem Witch Museum in the quaint New England town provides an excellent overview of the overall hysteria, the trials and the lives of those accused. The museum features dioramas, life size scenes depicting some of those involved, and displays on witch hunting in general.
Suitable for older children as well as adults, the museum is located on a pedestrian street in the heart of town, and is one of several witch themed attractions and tours.
