One of the largest city parks in the UK, Roundhay Park in Leeds covers 700 acres.
It was created in 1803 and attracts around a million visitors each year. There are several gardens, including the Canal Gardens with its lake, and the Monet garden, based on the famous painter's French garden. Other attractions include Tropical World, a collection of greenhouses containing one of the UK's collections of tropical plants, and a sports and concert arena.
Soldiers' Field was named for troops in WW I and was once used for test flights of early planes; today it's home to tennis courts and a golf course.
