Located near downtown Calgary on an island in the Bow River, Prince's Island Park was established in the late 1940s.
It's partly undeveloped wetlands where wild birds such as mallard ducks and Canada geese can often be seen, and partly landscaped. Signs provide information on wetlands, the wildlife found there, and water quality.
Several footbridges link the park to the riverbank and connect with miles of hiking trails, and the park has a kid's playground, picnic areas and water fountains.
During winter it offers ice skating and cross country skiing, and it's also the site of several festivals, including Heritage Day and Canada day.
