Standing at an impressive 175 feet, Ponce Inlet Lighthouse near Daytona Beach is Florida's largest lighthouse, and easily one of the largest lighthouses in the nation.
Situated between Cape Canaveral Light and St. Augustine Light, this lighthouse features a 203-spiral-step climb to its topmost point, while affording an expansive and unblemished view of the Atlantic Ocean.
Visitors can also take in the adjoining museum that's home to a remarkable Fresnel lens exhibit, and a variety of historical displays.
Costumed docents frequently take the Fresnel lens apart during their lighthouse and museum tours, to clean and oil this equipment, and to tell visitors about how this delicate machinery helped vessels successfully navigate the sea, and safely make their way inland.
