Located in the heart of Salamanca, the Plaza Mayor: Leon's Main Town Square is used as a public square. This is the place to go as it is lined by a pharmacy store and many jewelry stores, tourist shops, ice cream parlors, as well as restaurants.
Considered as Salamanca's heart, it is thought of as amongst Spain's most beautiful plazas. Its construction started in 1729 and was completed in 1735. This was the first phase. The second phase of the construction started in 1750 and ended in 1755.
The city in which this plaza is located has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1988.
