The Plaza 24 de Septiembre is located in Casco Viejo, the older part of the Bolivian city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra. It honors the uprising that led to the independence of Santa Cruz from Spanish rule, and is named after the date on which the city was established.
The statute of local hero, Ignatio Warnes, finds place at the center of the plaza. The square is surrounded by historical buildings of colonial style, such as the Mayor's office and the Cathedral.
