Thailand is famous for the large number of stupas.
However, the Phra Pathom Chedi is amongst the best of them and attracts the maximum number of footfalls from both local and foreign tourists. It is situated in the center of Nakhon Pathom town. This stupa is also the tallest one in the country, with the top of its spire reaching a staggering 120.45 meters.
There is a misunderstanding that this is the oldest construction of its type in Thailand. Although there is no historical record of this stupa, it seems to have been constructed around the year 325 BC based on information provided by Subhadradis Diskul.
