Located in the western part of Coimbatore, the Perur Pateeswarar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, which has been patronized b famous poets such as Kachiappa Munivar and Arunagirinathar.
The presiding deity of this temple is Shiva with his consort, Parvathi. Over the years, this temple has been known by different names such as Western Chidambaram, Pasupathipuram, Pirava Neri Thalam, Kalyanapuram, and many more. King Karikala Chola built this Temple during the second century.
The Maha Mahal and the Artha Mahal were built during the reign of Raja Raja Chola. This apart, there were regular donations from the Chola king.
