Palazzo dei Diamanti Art Galleries derives its name from more than 8000 white and pink pyramid (diamond) shaped ashlars, which cover the two facades.
Biagio Rossetti, the architect, rendered it a masterpiece of town planning by putting the most significant on the corner. This was a setup intended to highlight the crossroad's importance as well as ensuring that the building was a totally original work of art. The design of the structure was such that it was to be seen in perspective instead of from the front of the faced.
The corner is adorned with awesome sculpted candelabras by Gabriele Frisoni
