Brighton’s Palace Pier is the only remaining pier in the seaside resort that once had three. Opened in 1899, it measures 1722 feet long, making it one of Britain’s longest. It’s also been voted one of the country’s best free attractions.
The pier has all the usual attractions, including cafes, stalls selling fast food and souvenirs, and amusement arcades, as well as various fairground type rides.
One highlight is the Turbo Coaster which provides loops and sharp drops during its one minute 15 seconds ride. But for many, the appeal is simply the old fashioned atmosphere and the chance to enjoy views of this popular resort.
