The landscape of the Paisagem Protegida da Arriba Fossil da Costa de Caparica consists of a coastal plain, which is accompanied to the west by a fossil cliff. On this cliff, there is a relatively flat top that extends a little over a hundred meters in the Capuchin zone.
The highest point is at Cabo da Malha (114 m), which is located north of Albufeira Lagoon. Much of the cliff top is occupied by fixed dunes. PPAFCC is included in the inventory of sites of special interest for nature conservation. This was done not only for its geological and geomorphological importance but also for the vegetation and the existence of rare species.
