Apart from being one of the most popular locales in the city, the Novosibirsk Zoo is the largest zoo in Russia.
The history of this tourist spot dates back to 1933 in which a tiny activity center for children was organized, in which the kids were supposed to learn about animals as well as take care of them. It officially turned into a zoo in 1950.
Although its overall condition was quite poor, it housed 82 species of animals and people visited it regularly. Keeping in mind the tiny cages and the poor overall condition, construction of the new premises started in 1983. Today it is the most visited place in the city.Places nearby:
