The National Museum of Prehistory in Taitung, Taiwan, was opened in the year 2001. The museum houses tens of thousands of artifacts recovered during the construction of the south-link line. During the construction process, excavation works uncovered 1,500 burials and artifacts. Proposals for the establishment of a museum were made and approved in the year 1990. The museum was designed by Michael Graves, an American architect.
