The National Museum of Costa Rica is located in the city of San Jose.
The building was built over one hundred years ago and was originally used as a home for the military. Today, the building houses and displays thousands of objects that illustrate the history of the country. The displays cover many different topics, including the geology of the country, archaeological discoveries, and its more recent history.
There are displays of objects that date back to pre-Columbian times as well as those that depict the history of colonialism in Costa Rica. In addition, there is a butterfly garden outside the building to delight visitors.
