A reminder of the area's important mining history, the Muelle del Tinto is more of a tourist attraction these days.
It's an 1165 meter long pier, or dock that was used by the Rio Tinto Zinc company to unload copper, iron and other minerals and was built mostly from wood in the late 19th century, and reinforced over the years with metal rods and beams.
It was restored in 2006 after years of disuse, and the two story structure is popular for walking, fishing or just admiring the views out to sea or over the mainland. Nearby Huelva Museum has an interesting local archaeology exhibition.
