If you are planning to visit the Brazilian city of Sorocaba anytime soon, make sure to head to Sorocaba Mercado Municipal at least once.
Located at the heart of the city, the market is unique in that it spreads across both an indoor structure as well as in the outside along the many little alleyways and backstreets from that part of the city. There is a section for fruits, vegetables, meat and other local produce, but you’ll also find indoor food courts as well as nice little eateries at the outsides.
However, the market is perhaps most famous for its huge collection of all sorts of nuts and similar products. There are castanhas (chestnuts), castanha de caju (cashew nuts), castanha do pará (Brazil nuts) and many more. The prices may be a bit on the higher side; but these are premium quality products, so you won’t regret your purchases.
