With a seating capacity of 20,000, the Mecca Masjid, constructed when Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah was the ruler, and located in Hyderbad, is the largest Mosque in India.
Its 3 arched facades took 5 years to excavate and 8,000+ employees were engaged to build it. Following the death of the emperor the construction was abandoned. All of the Nizams of the city, except for the first and the last were buried in the mosque.
More than 13 individuals were killed when a bomb exploded inside the Masjid during the Jumma (Friday) prayers on May the 18th, 2007. The most striking feature of this Masjid is its entrance.
