The Mattancherry Palace is usually referred to as the Dutch Palace.
It exudes a Kerala style of architecture with colonial influences. The Palace underwent major repairs by the Dutch since it was built in 1545.
The simple Palace has a collection of murals that depict the great Indian epics along with the revered gods of the Hindu faith. It is now a museum that displays paraphernalia that belonged to the Rajas of Kochi.
This is a great place to learn about the history of Kerala. It has four separate wings that surround the central courtyard, and it's a wonderful sight to behold.
