The Spanish town of Blanes, in Costa Brava, is the location for the Marimurta Botanical Gardens. It is one of the oldest botanical gardens in Europe and dates back to 1920. It was Carlos Faust who took the initiative to create this verdant haven that would showcase hundreds of species of sub tropical as well as Mediterranean flora. It also has collections from all continents, which are grouped together in specific sections of the grounds.
The gardens are located on a hill that overlooks the charming seaside town. It offers visitors spectacular views of its surrounding areas. The dramatic cliffs and blue seas offer the botanical garden an idyllic setting. At the very top of the garden is the Linnaeus Temple.
