The Malecon 2000 is currently one of the most extensive and impressive projects in urban renewal throughout all of South America. This boardwalk overlooks the Guayas River and features sculptures, playgrounds, monuments, gorgeous views, and perfectly manicured gardens.
It is a gated, public place that includes a newly built performance venue, a movie theater, a museum, multiple restaurants, and a nice-sized shopping mall. Excellent views of Cerro Santa Ana and Las Penas can be seen from the far north end of the boardwalk.
