Constructed in the mid 17th century, la Vieille Bourse was once the stock exchange in Lille, France.
The beautiful Flemish Renaissance style building comprises several buildings arranged around a courtyard; today it's still an important city landmark and meeting place. On the walls can still be seen the crests of the various guilds that built the stock exchange.
It's worth visiting for its second hand book market on Sunday afternoons, selling everything from comics to newspapers as well as old books.
There's nearly always a game or two of chess going on, and on summer evenings it's also the venue for tango dancing.
