La Giralda is a 342-ft cathedral bell tower located in Seville, Spain. It is a minaret for the Great Mosque of Seville. The tower gets its name from the weather vane that sits at the top. It considered to be one of the tallest churches in the world.
Initiated by Abu Ya'qub Yusuf in 1171, it is constructed with bricks, recycled marble, gold and bronze. Designed with Cordoban architecture, the mosque is constructed with sandalwood, gold, ebony, silver, ivory and wood. The main gateway has a metal door with floral knockers and a geometric design.
It is the inspiration for many other global buildings and structures.
