The Juscelino Kubitschek Memorial immortalizes the history of the Kubitschek family and its most distinguished member, President Juscelino. From the top of the 28-meter tower, a statue of JK oversees the city and welcomes tourists. It is located in an area where the first mass of the new capital of the Republic was held.
The location is the highest point within the city, which makes it perfect to honor the president who idealized Brasilia. The monument built at the request of Mrs. Sarah Kubitschek was designed by Oscar Niemeyer. Visitors can view photos relating to the construction of the capital. The most important space is on the second floor: the burial chamber. The tomb where Juscelino's remains are all lined with black granite.
