Jardin Japonais in the city of Nantes, France is a Japanese style garden found at the Ile de Versailles, an artificial island on the Erdre River.
The 1.7 hectare island was created back in 1831 and housed workshops of naval carpenters and tanners. However, from 1983 onwards, the place has been rebuilt as a Japanese garden with an elaborate layout of rockeries and waterfalls. Within the garden, you'll find three Japanese style building one of which, the "Maison de l'Erdre", also encloses a smaller Zen garden within.
