The botanical garden Jardin Botanico Viera y Clavijo is situated to the northeast of Gran Canaria.
The Swedish-Spanish botanist Erik Ragnar Svensson spent his entire life in establishing this museum. He had to spend many years to find the perfect location in which he could set up the garden. He finally decided the steep slope of Barranco de Guiniguda and started building the garden in the year 1952. Covering an area of 10 hectares, this garden has in excess of 500 species of plants.
There are several important divisions of the park such as the Garden of the islands. Do not forget to see them.
