Jardim Zoologico is home to nearly 2000 animals from 300 species. One of the most famous zoos in the country, the Lisbon Zoo was opened in 1884 mainly through the efforts of animal conservationist Dr. Van Der Laan.
Guests can get a quick overview of the entire zoo by going on the cable tour. Other points of interest include the Dolphin Show, the Land of Reptiles, and Nature Theater.
Families with kids should also stop by La Petite Ferme, a petting area where children can get closer to farm animals. Bikes and roller skates are available for rent. The zoo also has numerous dining options.
