The Hussainabad Clock Tower in Lucknow, India, was constructed in 1881. The 67 meter high clock tower was inspired by London's Big Ben. It is located next to the city's historic Rumi Darwaza.
The tower was built in honor of the arrival of Sir George Cooper Bart, the first Lieutenant Governor to the colonial provinces of Oudh and Agra. The clock, which is made of bell metal, was brought in from England. It is 13 feet in diameter and the dials are flower shaped.
In 1984, the clock stopped working and despite several attempts it could not be repaired. In 2010, two residents of Lucknow took it upon themselves to repair the clock. They were successful in their efforts. However, it is no longer functional and requires restoration.
