Proudly perched on Mount Zoller, the Hohenzollern Castle boasts of a 1000-year old history. The castle sits at the heart of Baden-Wurttemberg between Stuttgart, the Black Forest and Lake Constance and is currently owned by Prince George Frederick of Prussia – for the time being the last in an illustrious line of counts and princes, kings and emperors who have owned this grandiose mansion at various points in time.
The castle has been damaged, destroyed and has fallen into ruins many times during its long and checquered history, but it was invariably taken over and rebuilt many times by different kings and emperors. The castle, as it stands in its present form, is owing to the King Frederick William IV of Prussia who had the place reconstructed (and made the ancestral home of his family) in the 19th century.
