Launched in 1765, HMS Victory was Admiral Nelson's ship and is most famous for her role in the Battle of Trafalgar.
The ship had over 100 cannons when fully armed, and a crew of about 850. Today she is a museum ship on display in the historic dockyard in Portsmouth, Hampshire. Visitors can see many fascinating areas of the ship, including the gun deck with its rows of cannons, several cabins and the dry dock.
Most visitors marvel at the compact galley with its one stove that somehow managed to feed everyone on board. A plaque on the deck indicates the spot where Nelson fell.Places nearby:
