The Grosser Garten Park is in German city of Dresden, the capital of Saxony. The park was designed and developed in the Baroque style. Thought it was laid out in 1676, it was only in 1814 that the gates were opened to the public.
The park is rather large and spread across an area of 1.8 square kilometers. The Sommerpalais, a small palace was built in the Baroque style for Johann Georg III. Today, it is used as a venue for events and for concerts. The Dresden zoo and botanical garden are located on its premises. It also has several open air stages where performances are held.
The miniature railway in the park is popular with visitors of all ages. A recent addition to the site is the Volkswagen Transparent Factory.
