Garfield Park Conservatory is one of the largest indoor botanical gardens in the United States.
This conservatory, on Chicago's near west side in the Garfield Park neighborhood, boasts thousands of plant species organized into eight different displays. The conservatory first opened in 1908 and is the oldest of Chicago's west side parks.
A group called the Conservatory Alliance administers educational programs at the park, which is often touted as "landscape art under glass." Major displays that constantly evolve include Palm House, Fern Room, Sugar From the Sun, Desert House, Aroid House, Show House and Horticulture Hall, along with the outdoor gardens.
