Chicago's Field Museum is one of the largest natural history museums in the world. It occupies a prominent position close to downtown, overlooking Lake Michigan and Soldier Field.
There are an estimated 24 million items here, as well as a 275,000 volume library and if the museum looks familiar, it's been in several movies, notably the Relic. Many visit to see the largest and most complete skeleton of a tyrannosaurus rex, measuring over 40 feet long, although there is plenty more to see.
