Esztergom Basilica is located in Esztergom, Hungary. Not only is it the tallest building in Hungary, but it is also the country's biggest church. It sits above a curve on the Danube River, which was also the location for many other churches. It is considered a national Hungarian icon.
Completed in 1869, it was built with a Neoclassical architectural style. At that time, it housed the largest organ in the country. Its middle dome is 233 feet high, and it has 12 windows.
The altarpiece is the biggest canvas painting in the world. Visitors will enjoy the breathtaking views of the Danube from the dome.
